The State of LGBTQ+ Representation in Video Games at CEA

Jim Drown (UIC) and I presented new research from an ongoing collaborative project titled "The State of LGBTQ+ Representation in Video Games"at the annual conference for the College English Association (CEA) earlier this month. Building on the work of scholars like Bonnie Ruberg, Adrienne Shaw, and Stephen Greer, our collaboration examines questions of empathy, recognition, and identification in new media, focusing in this presentation on mainstream video games. It was great to be presenting in person again, in beautiful Birmingham, Alabama, and our talk was well-received We're very grateful to the Association for inviting us!
